The Learning Centre @ Mall Galleries

This challenging project transformed a damp and unused basement in this Grade 1 listed building on the mall into a vibrant and exciting education space.

Client:  Mall Galleries

Project:  The Learning Centre

Value: £300,000

Lead Consultant: Corrigan Soundy & Kilaiditi, Architects

At the commencement of the project, this space was a damp, disused basement area. The challenge to our team was to open up small, claustrophobic vaults, link them to the main building and provide dry, useable space.

After extensive structural alterations, damp proofing and brick treatment to exposed surfaces, the rooms were clad with treated plywood walls and flooring to create unique finish. A structural glass roof enclosed the void between the vaults and the main building, providing the Gallery with a fantastic space to use for their educational and training programme.

RICS Awards 2014 – Building Conservation

As a charity, it was always important the development of our Learning Centre did not run away from budget.

Not only were we delighted by the quality of Interior Motives’ work, we were also impressed by their management of the project,
the quality of work they delivered and their success in managing costs to within the agreed budget.

We won’t hesitate to use Interior Motives again and to recommend their services to others.
